Our little agriturismo chalet Gasteig with 3 apartments is located in Ulten valley in South Tyrol shortly after the penultimate village St. Nikolaus. With its natural stems construction unique in Val d’Ultimo, off the main road on a sunny hillside location with a great view of the impressive, surrounding mountains.
Chalet Gasteig is always worth a visit. Juicy green meadows and forests await you during the summer months and a sparkling white winter landscape. Hiking trails, mountain bike trails, cross country skiing and ski tours start right from the chalet, the ski and hiking area Schwemmalm is about 3 km away. A little gem surrounded by a wonderful natural scenery. Relaxation, what are you waiting? The Chalet is a unique sense of wellbeing.

Just one pass enabling you to explore this magnificent South Tyrolean landscape, practice your favourite sports and discover the local culture. The UltentalCard unlocks a multifaceted world of experiences in the Ultental Valley and throughout the region.
With the UltentalCard, a one-day round trip starts on the Schwemmalm cable car and includes free use of the Weissbrunn shuttle for hikers. Cardholders also have free access to all museums in the Ultental Valley as well as in over 80 museums located throughout South Tyrol. Sports enthusiasts can use it to access the municipal swimming pool in Ultimo/Ulten, enjoy the open air ice rink in Pracupola/Kuppelwies and go cross-country skiing on the Ultental Valley cross-country ski trail.
UltentalCard holders are also entitled to free public transport anywhere in South Tyrol!
The UltentalCard comes at no extra cost and is included in the price of your room. Issued on arrival, it remains valid for the duration of your stay.

Winter in the Ulten valley

In the pristine valley of Ulten you will find in winter many possibilities for your leisure time: ski alpine, ski touring from easy to difficult in the near mountains, cross-country ski on varied runs, toboggan, ice skating, snow shoe hiking through the snow-capped beauty of our big mountains or you can promenade along the snow-covered walking paths.
Ski holidays at the ski area Schwemmalm for both families and experienced skiers are unforgettable. With a total of 25 km of ski slopes, even the most demanding and expert skiers enjoy the Schwemmalm ski area located above Pracupola/Kuppelwies. The tourist office of St. Walburg invite you to participate to different activities: guided snow shoe hiking (one time of the week), night toboggan... You can enjoy a day of relaxation in the Therme of the near city Merano or visit the Christ Child market on the Passer of Merano.

Summer in the Ulten valley

Discover the summer in the most beautiful valley of South Tyrol and its surrounding. Original, natural, authentic. Discover the universal mountains of the Ulten valley with its pronounced hike road network of well-marked walking and hiking paths, homely alpine refuges and mountain pastures and interesting nature trails. Hover with the cable car gondola in the hiking area Schwemmalm. Visit the Ulten valley museum with interesting information’s of the farming life. In the village St. Gertraud is the national visitor center „Lahnersäge“ and the „old larch’s of the valley“, they are one of the oldest needle beams of Europe. Nice to see is also the „house on the rock“ in the village St. Pankraz. In the summer the tourist office offers different activities for guests: guided walking tours in the national park with cheese tasting, nordic walking tours, a trip to explore herbs...
In alternation you can make a trip to Lana, Bolzano or to the near cure city of Merano, to shop or to dander under the arcades and the Passer promenade. The garden of „Castle Trauttmansdorff“ will fascinate you and the relaxed atmosphere in the Therme of Merano is a pleasure for everybody.
